LAND 'O LAKES, Fla. -- A substitute teacher in Pasco County has lost his job after being accused of wizardry

Teacher Jim Piculas does a magic trick where a toothpick disappears and then reappears.

Piculas recently did the 30-second trick in front of a classroom at Rushe Middle School in Land 'O Lakes.

Piculas said he then got a call from the supervisor of teachers, saying he'd been accused of wizardry.

"I get a call the middle of the day from head of supervisor of substitute teachers. He says, 'Jim, we have a huge issue, you can't take any more assignments you need to come in right away,'" he said.

Piculas said he did not know of any other accusations that would have led to the action.

The teacher said he is concerned that the incident may prevent him from getting future jobs.

Wizardry??? I despair for the future of the USA

I'm sure it was the child of a Fundamentalist who made the accusation. Fundamentalists, you know....the ones who dance with snakes and speak in tongues. lol

Sure it'd be fine to giggle at it if the guy's livelihood wasn't under threat because of it.
It'd also be fine to laugh at the fundies if they didn't have so much power in your country!

I can't help but picture that phone commercial where the wizard jumps off the fan... "Wizard!"

And yeah, that articles kind of whacked. Not a lot of information...

"Piculas said he did not know of any other accusations that would have led to the action."

I think there are other things going on here...

It'd be funnier if Floriduh didn't keep trying to teach creationism/ID and other superstitions and mythology as science and then they fire a teacher for *wizardry* which doesn't exist. It ain't gonna be too funny when they burn some woman at the stake for practicing withery or some such nonsense.
